Open your eyes for me, what do you see,
Is there anything you can use to compare?
Like the juniper tint of evergreen trees,
Or bold brushstrokes of cobalt in the air?
Vision cannot dispute with what’s sensory
So taste rich marigold hues in herbal tea
Find the deep shades of olive in hickory
And pink in the soft petals of sweet peas
Revel in rich red rubies and raspberries
And taste cedar in bitter breaths of coffee
Feel periwinkle dust your cheek like fairies
Let burgundy coat your tongue like toffee
Taste the vivid flavor of vermillion
Find amber-gold in the aroma of ginger
Inhale the soft white scent of jasmines
Feel wilting ivy trace you like a whisper
Let the lilac lace your scent like lavenders
Feel vanilla white linger where she goes
Feel teal flick each page of the calendar
Notice violet in each work of poetry or prose
Smell the spices of cinnamon and sage
Let the jet-black ink imprint your memory
Trace spots of crimson engraved in age
Experience colors without needing to see
Darling, it’s not a disability to be blind
So why don’t you stay awhile with me
Use my words to paint inside your mind,
Feel all the colors you can’t see
